Brandon Hire Station Website Migration

Case study - brandon hire station

Brandon Hire Station is a division of VP plc and is a leading supplier of tools and rental products to the construction, home and industrial sectors, operating out of over 160 trade centres around the country and through its website.

The company provides tools and equipment with delivery guaranteed within an arranged timeframe at several locations through branded vehicles and accredited drivers.

Website Challenge

The existing platform was built on a legacy platform and had begun to cause several problems for the Brandon Hire Station team that was causing barriers to the company’s commercial and operational goals.

They had agreed to go forwards on a custom Magento Commerce build that would overcome their challenges, improve current processes and overtake their competition.

It had been made very clear to me the importance of maintaining ranking positions and setting up the website to allow them to improve rankings easily in the future.

The Approach

As well as Magento Commerce as a headless platform, Brandon Hire Station would also benefit from a Progressive Web App (PWA) on the new build so that they would have a scalable, flexible solution that would facilitate ease of use and growth.

I was required to liaise with key contacts at Brandon Hire Station to ensure the site was optimised and set up as agreed in the finalised functional specification.

I ensured the launch went as smoothly as possible, including accurately mapping redirects to new URLs and working with the Head of Development to brief the team on handling JavaScript and setting up server-side rendering.

I conducted pre-and post-launch checks and worked with the required teams on both the agency and client-side teams to implement the necessary fixes and catch any bugs before deployment.
