Within SEO, authority usually refers to the authority of a website, page or resource. A website with good rankings, informative content, strong or trustworthy backlinks and popularity would usually be thought to have high authority.

Authority is a qualitative measure relating to a given website’s overall visibility and rankings. Domain Authority is commonly discussed in the same vein.

Authority is not black and white and can be broken down into three pillars: Domain authority, Link authority, and Page authority. It can be a strong indicator of SEO performance.
