External Links
« Back to Glossary Index

Not to be confused with backlinks, external links are the opposite of backlinks in the sense that instead of having a site link back to you, here we add a link to another website from within our own content.

External links are generally used to reference a source of information, or they can also be used to indicate other relevant or significant information that the author considers to be appropriate to the content.

We should all use external links in our content as they assist search engines in establishing the content’s efficacy and the pages’ quality. Good links also contribute towards EEAT.

In terms of implementation, it makes sense for one high-quality page to link to another high-quality site. These enable search engines to understand the relationship between pages on the web. They can rank your pages higher in SERPs as a result.
